WebASSUMING the wires are standard you’re just breaking the black wire (in this context, the red wire is a “marked back wire”), so black->switch—>red->light, white->light, and ground/green->switch. Your fixture should be red on one side, white on the other. I have a feeling those wires aren't marked as standard then.
