There is an older gearslutz thread about the V-series where people have been complaining about thier buzzing and humming sounds, without anything connected to the monitors except the powercord (just like in my case). I found an improvement using my old loved KRK 9000b, as primary speaker set, and avantone mixcubes, as secondary reference monitors. Now I use VXT 8 as surround speakers.
