WebIn 1996 during quarrying near Purbeck a remarkable set of dinosaur footprints were discovered they were to turn out to be amongst the most extensive exposure of dinosaur footprints in Britain. These prints were created around 140 million years ago. They are the prints of Sauropods, either a Brachiosaurid or a Tatanosaurid. The footprints were made by sauropods 140 million years ago. They were discovered by quarrymen Kevin Keates and Trev Haysom in 1997. There are over 100 prints, which suggests that it was the location of a watering hole. The National Trust opened Spyway to the public in 2016.
